Fort Worth architects design space with visitors in mindFort Worth architects design space with visitors in mind The architects of Fort Worth have gone public, making themselves more accessible to the community. After years of being reclusive to the point of near invisibility, the local chapter of the American Institute of Architects has opened the Center for Architecture on Seventh Street in the old Strings location, and they welcome visitors. Really, they want you to drop by. “The center is a place to show how architects can help people with a wide range of design opportunities,” says Joe Self, whose Firm817 designed the new facility. The center opened on Gallery Night with the show “Cross Section — What Architects Do,” an exhibit of models and architectural drawings by chapter members. The simplicity of the show title indicates how earnest the group is in trying to be accessible and understood.
